| STEP I: |

In order to create a spam filter, you'll first need to select "Rules
Wizard" from the "Tools" menu. |
| STEP II: |

When the "Rules Wizard" window appears, click the "New..."
button to create a new rule. |
| STEP III: |

In this window, you'll want to select "Start from a blank rule"
at the top (leaving "Check messages when they arrive" as the
highlighted option), and then click the "Next >" button. |
| STEP IV: |

You will now be prompted with a list of conditions to select from under
"Which condition(s) do you want to check?" Select the "with
specific words in the message header" option, and then click on the
"specific words" link listed below under "Rule description..." |
| STEP V: |

In the "Search Text" window that appears, type the words that you
would like Outlook to filter spam by. The words you choose should be
words typically seen in the subject lines of spam mail that you recieve,
but NOT typically seen in the e-mails that you recieve from your
friends, family, or associates. When you have entered a word that you'd
like to use, click the "Add" button. When you are finished, click
"OK" |
| STEP VI: |

You will now see the words that you entered during the previous step
appear in the context of the rule that you are creating. If at any point
you would like to edit your word selection, simply click on the text
link within the rule. Click the "Next >" button. |
| STEP VII: |

You are now prompted with the question "What do you want to do with
the message?" and a list of available options below. Select "move
it to the specified folder" and then click on the "specified"
link below in the "Rule description..." section. |
| STEP VIII: |

If you already have a folder created that you'd like to send the spam
mail to, then select it with your mouse and press "OK."
Otherwise, click the "New..." button to create a new folder for
the spam mail. |
| STEP IX: |

In the "Create New Folder" window, type "spam" into the field
below "Name:" When you are done, go to the window below "Select
where to place the folder" and by clicking on the small "+" symbols,
navigate to the folder where you would like your spam folder to be
placed. After selecting a folder to place your spam folder in, click the
"OK" button. |
| STEP X: |

You should now see your newly created "spam" folder in the options list
for "Choose a folder:" Select it and press the "OK"
button. |
| STEP XI: |

If there are any exceptions that you would like to add to the rule you
are creating, you can select them from the list provided and edit them
in the same way that the rule itself was created. When you are done with
the exceptions option, click the "Next" button. |
| STEP XII: |

At this point you can type a specific name for the new rule in the field
provided at the top, or accept the default name that is assigned. When
you are done typing a name (or if you are accepting the default name),
if there are no further edits that you would like to make to the rule,
click "Finish" and you will be done. |
